Preventing defects. Quality Assurance is a process-oriented role. The role builds and audits the systems to ensure the manufacturing process is capable of producing quality products consistently.
Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for establishing and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS). The role focuses on preventing defects by designing processes, creating standards, and conducting audits. It ensures that the procedures used to manufacture the product are robust and followed correctly. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, it is not about checking the final product, but it is about checking the process.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Development: Create and maintain documentation for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and HACCP plans.
- Auditing: Conduct internal and external audits (supplier audits) to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, BRC, IFS).
- Supplier Quality: Approve and monitor raw material suppliers to ensure they meet quality standards before materials arrive.
- Training: Train production staff on quality procedures, hygiene, and proper documentation practices.
- Root Cause Analysis: When a major process failure occurs, lead investigations to find the root cause and implement permanent corrective actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
Job Requirements:
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Science, Food Technology, or any related field.
- Able to teamwork with others.
- Value honesty, initiative and willing to learn.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
