Function: The main roles of an Agronomist are to experiment and plan studies to improve crop yields and to develop methods to control weeds and pests to keep crops disease-free.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or any related field.
- Able to work outside, stand, walk, kneel, and stoop for extended periods.
- Proficiency with computers, especially MS Office and diagnostic scientific software.
- Awareness of industry trends, technology, and developments.
- Candidates with 1-year working experience are added advantages; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Study plants and soil in order to develop better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques, improve crop yield, and solve problems facing the agriculture industry.
- Research, develop, and promote farming practices or products that diminish the effects of changes in soil, climate, and weather or prevent damage from pests.
- On the fields daily basis to collect seed, plant, and soil samples and test samples for nutritional deficiencies, diseases, or other changes.
- Keep detailed records regarding fields, crops and misc.
- Generate reports and present findings to management, inter-departments, or other interested parties.
- Promote products and techniques through educational presentations.
- Other tasks assigned and required by the Company.
