As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will develop cutting edge equipment and machinery for the breeding and farming of insects. You will be able to bring ideas to life and translate concepts into machine designs, ready for fabrication and farm operation. The goal is to roll out a series of Smart Insect Farms starting next year, supported by elegant and robust system, process and machine engineering and cutting-edge automation systems. You will be a key member of the engineering team developing the factory blueprint from our existing pilot farm.

Job Description:

• Design equipment and tools to monitor, handle and support processes around all lifecycle stages of our insect as well as material movement and processing plant machinery.
• Design wizard – You create designs using CAD software (AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks 3D), analyzing the data from the tests, prototyping and iteratively optimizing towards full-scale implementation.
• Receive and study feedback from various teams about equipment and machinery, your job is to think of design solutions, and improve them.
• Leading Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) and Design to Cost initiatives to develop a scalable and reproducible smart farm model.
• Eye for detail to ensure measurements are correct to avoid operational errors or difficulties due to design.

Requirements:

• Min 5 years in managing mechanical engineering in manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of manufacturing, fabrication and assembly of large-scale machine, processing lines as well as delicate automation machines and robotics.
• You communicate effectively and confidently in written and spoken English.
• Expert skill in SolidWorks, AutoCAD and other design software; excellent spatial and quantitative thinking. Strong technical intuition.
• Multi-disciplinary curiosity, keen observer and quick learner. You can have a conversation with our business, biology and operational teams to deeply understand requirements, expectations and constraints to design elegant solutions.
• Manage your projects’ timelines, cost and scope for high quality deliverables.
• Strong attention to detail and high work standards.
• Pro-active and independent thinking and problem-solving competence.
• Preferred: Impressive portfolio of designing, planning and fabricating novel machines.
